2014 Teaching Emergency Response Readiness to Primary Student

Training young people in first aid and CPR (Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation) is widely recognized as a practical and cost-effective way of increasing community capacity to respond in emergency situations. A trained and confident bystander can save lives. However, training must be age and content-appropriate. For young people it must be fun and engaging. This seminar describes a project in Queensland to assess the emergency response readiness (ERR) of 12 year olds using age-appropriate measures before and after a one day training program conducted by surf lifesaving instructors.

Dialogue Session with BHE Champions 2014

The BHE elite student athletes have demonstrated the excellence in sport at the 17th Asian Games 2014 with three Gold Medals, five Silver Medals and two Bronze Medals. Their determination to excel and sportsmanship has touched many hearts and set a fine example for many young people who look upon them as a role model. In this sharing session, the BHE champions will share their success stories in their sports career and academic students at the Institute under the dual pathways we pioneer in collaboration with the Hong Kong Sports Institute.
